Saving Lives in Hampshire

Ringwood & Fordingbridge Lions are proud to support BASICS Hampshire (www.basicshampshire.org.uk) - an organized team of highly qualified emergency volunteer doctors who, in their spare time, work above and beyond and at all hours to provide life saving care to anyone who needs it at home or at the roadside.

While paramedics deal with the majority of 999 calls, BASICS Hampshire Doctors are expert pre-hospital critical care specialists whose intervention can make sure that your chances of a full recovery from a serious traumatic injury or illness are significantly improved.  You are up to three times more likely to survive and recover better from traumatic injury and illness if an appropriately qualified doctor gets to you before you reach hospital.

The club members were astonished to hear that the NHS do not provide this vital service and it is incumbent upon a small group of highly trained and qualified Doctors to work in their spare time and for free to save lives.  Even more astonishing is the fact that not every county in the UK is as lucky as Hampshire and do not have any such emergency service available.  Volunteers working in any profession of any kind are amazing but the team working at Basics Hampshire truly are an inspiration to us all.  Ringwood & Fordingbridge Lions are extremely humbled and privileged to be able to support Basics Hampshire
